Aero Upgrades
Enhancing wind turbine performance through strategic implementations such as Tip Extensions, Vortex Entrainers, Lift Tabs/Gurney Flaps, and stall strips can greatly boost both efficiency and energy output.
By adopting these upgrades, we can not only elevate the turbine's overall energy production but also prolong its operational lifespan.
This approach can lead to an increase in annual energy production of up to 5% thanks to improved aerodynamics.
Between mid-July and mid-September 2021, AccessTec successfully installed aero-upgrade components on 40 turbines on an onshore site.
The pack consisted of Tip Boosters (installed using MEWPs) and an array of Vortex Entrainers and Lift Tabs. 9 teams and 18 technicians we employed to complete the work.
The project was completed on time and in budget and has led onto multiple further projects and a variety of turbine/blade models.
